There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Hapoel Jerusalem (5-5) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Hapoel Eilat (5-5) 92-81 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 48-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Hapoel Eilat especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International Rafi Menco (198-94) fired 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat's coach Oded Katash used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Curtis Jerrells (185-87, college: Baylor, agency: Stealth Sport) produced 26 points and his fellow American import power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Hapoel Eilat have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa and Hapoel J-M. Hapoel Eilat will meet at home Maccabi Haifa (#10) in the next round. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
