Regular Season Round 5: El Jaysh - Al Wakrah 115-70

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Wakrah (1-1) in Doha on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by El Jaysh (2-0) 115-70. The game without a history. El Jaysh led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wakrah's 36. They outrebounded Al Wakrah 35-23 including a 17-6 advantage in defensive rebounds. El Jaysh shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 69.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Al Wakrah's players. It was a great evening for Fadi Hani Abilmona who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. Five El Jaysh players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Larry Williams (191-86, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Nigerian forward Olatunbo Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) scored 24 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. El Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
