Regular Season Round 10: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Hapoel Holon 74-81

Date: December 11, 2016
Very significant was Hapoel Holon's (#3) 81-74 road victory against their biggest opponent Bnei Hasharon. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Bnei Hasharon. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bnei Hasharon won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Bnei Hasharon outrebounded Hapoel Holon 41-27 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American Khalif Wyatt (193-91, college: Temple, agency: Pensack Sports) notched 23 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Hapoel Holon's coach Dan Shamir allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists by American-Georgian point guard Taurean Green (183-85, college: Florida) did not help to save the game for Bnei Hasharon. American forward Jeff Adrien (201-86, college: Connecticut) added 16 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Holon (7-3) moved-up to second place. Bnei Hasharon at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Hapoel T-A and Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Holon will play against bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (#12) in Kiryat Gat in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bnei Hasharon will play at home against Maccabi Ashdod (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
