Very important is a home loss of third ranked Tortona (7-5) against fifteenth ranked Novipiu Casale (4-8) on Sunday night. Host Tortona was edged by Novipiu Casale in a tough game in Tortona 76-78. It was a great shooting night for Novipiu Casale especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Giovanni Tomassini (188-88) who scored 29 points. American forward Jordan Tolbert (201-92, college: SMU) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) who recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Giampaolo Ricci (201-91) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Novipiu Casale moved-up to fourteenth place in A2. Loser Tortona keeps the third position with five games lost. Novipiu Casale will meet at home higher ranked Latina Basket (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tortona will play against Mens Sana 1871 (#7) in Siena and hope to secure a win.
