Regular Season Round 10: Umbertide - Lucca 38-58

Seria A1 top team - Lucca (9-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Umbertide (3-7) 58-38. The game was mostly controlled by Lucca. Umbertide was better in fourth quarter 10-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Umbertide to just 7 points in second quarter. Lucca made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game, while Umbertide only scored three points from the stripe. American swingman Julie Wojta (183-89, college: Green Bay, agency: LBM Management) scored 8 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-New Zealand guard Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Kierra Mallard (188-90, college: Texas Tech) responded with 8 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Giulia Moroni (175-94) scored 7 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lucca have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record, which they share with Familia Schio. Umbertide at the other side keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Torino and Vigarano. Lucca will play against San Martino (#4) in San Martino di L in the next round. Umbertide will play on the road against La Spezia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
