Regular Season Round 13: FSU - Armann 96-56

Bottom-ranked Armann (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-56 loss to sixth ranked FSU (5-7) in Selfoss. The game was mostly controlled by FSU. Armann was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Armann to just 5 points in first quarter. FSU dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Armann's 42. FSU forced 38 Armann turnovers. American forward Terrance Motley (201-91, college: Sam Houston St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four FSU players scored in double figures. FSU's coach Eloy Doce felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Johann Fridriksson (202-94) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Arnthor Fjalarsson added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Armann in the defeat. FSU moved-up to fifth place. Armann lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. FSU's next round opponent will be higher ranked Valur (#4) in Reykjavik and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armann will play at home against Hamar (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
