The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#3) and AEK Athens (#2). Panathinaikos (9-1) won against visiting AEK Athens (8-2) 77-68. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Panathinaikos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by AEK Athens helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Panathinaikos' coach Xavier Pascual used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Croatian point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, agency: XL Basketball Agency) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Serbian Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: BeoBasket) scored 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Panathinaikos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. AEK Athens at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Aiolos Trikallon (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AEK Athens will play against Doxa Lefkadas (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
