Date: December 11, 2016
A1 top team - Olympiacos (10-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked AGOR (5-5) in Athens 83-58. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. AGOR was better in third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to AGOR's 34. They outrebounded AGOR 42-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olympiacos players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. International Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, college: Texas) notched 13 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 8 points and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Robert Arnold (198-88, college: Boise St.) did not help to save the game for AGOR. Forward Haralampos Giannopoulos (200-89) added 16 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-0 record. AGOR at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Kolossos HH. Olympiacos will play against PAOK (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round. AGOR will play at home against Koroivos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
