Regular Season Round 7: Naft Abadan - Kashan 82-84

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Naft Abadan (5-2) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Kashan (3-4) 84-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Naft Abadan. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-19. But Naft Abadan won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Croatian center Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Montenegrin point guard Ivan Koljevic (187-84) helped adding 24 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side international swingman Saeed Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international M. Reza Akbari (196-86) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Naft Abadan players scored in double figures. Kashan moved-up to seventh place. Naft Abadan at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Azad and Arak. Kashan are looking forward to face Shahrdari Gorgan (#9) at home in the next round. Naft Abadan will play against Azad (#3) in Tehran and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
