Regular Season Round 12: Gorizont - Gorizont II 97-45

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Gorizont as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gorizont smashed 6th ranked Gorizont II in Minsk 97-45. The game without a history. Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gorizont II to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Gorizont II's 26. They also forced 30 Gorizont II turnovers and outrebounded them 44-20 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 2 passes made by Gorizont II's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gorizont made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Yuliya Rytsikava (181-86) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Volha Gromik (183-93) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Gorizont players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Ekaterina Yalchik (170-0) who recorded 11 points and forward Daryna Bachkarova (182-0) added 8 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gorizont have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Tsmoki-Minsk. Gorizont II lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Gorizont II will play next round against strong Olimpia GrGAU trying to get back on the winning streak. Gorizont will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Olimpia GrGAU in Grodno.
