Regular Season Round 10: TLU/Kalev - Kalev/Cramo 64-74
Date: December 13, 2016
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tallinn: Kalev/Cramo (#4) and TLU/Kalev (#8). TLU/Kalev was defeated at home 64-74 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Kalev/Cramo. TLU/Kalev managed to win second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TLU/Kalev to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded TLU/Kalev 40-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The former international guard Rain Veideman (192-91) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Belarusian Vitali Liutych (198-92) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Kalev/Cramo's coach Alar Varrak used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Lithuanian center Robertas Grabauskas (208-90, college: Northwood, agency: HMS) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Kaido Saks (207-86, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Kalev/Cramo and four TLU/Kalev players scored in double figures. Kalev/Cramo (6-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion (6-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with TTU. TLU/Kalev lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Kalev/Cramo's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tallinn to the arena TTU.
