Regular Season Round 18: Indios - Fuerza Regia 80-96

Undefeated leader Fuerza Regia delivered the eighteenth consecutive victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Ciudad (6-12) 96-80 in Ciudad Juarez. They outrebounded Ciudad 45-31 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fuerza Regia shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. It was a good game for Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from downtown making all seven shots !!!). Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 9 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) replied with 22 points and 6 assists and forward Jorge Camacho (203-89, college: E.Kentucky) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Ciudad. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia (18-0) have an impressive 18-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 18 victories in a row. Ciudad at the other side dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Abejas. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ciudad will play again at home against the league's leader Fuerza Regia (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
