Regular Season Round 24: Ferrocarril - Echague 98-92
Date: December 16, 2016
Very predictable result in Buenos Aires where second ranked Ferrocarril (15-7) defeated 10th ranked Echague (3-19) 98-92 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Ferrocarril made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Ferrocarril outrebounded Echague 33-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Ferrocarril especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Echague was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and center Jose Ignacio Alessio (203-87) who added 22 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Pro Sports) with 21 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Matias Nocedal (192-90) scored 21 points. Five Echague players scored in double figures. Ferrocarril have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-7 record having just two points less than leader San Lorenzo. Echague lost seventeenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 19 games lost. Ferrocarril's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Boca Juniors.
