There was no surprise when 6th ranked Canberra Capitals (7-7) were defeated on the road by second ranked Bendigo Spirit (10-5) 70-60. The game was mostly controlled by Bendigo Spirit. Canberra Capitals was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Canberra Capitals 40-29 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Canadian power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser) accounted for 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. The former international center Marianna Tolo (196-89) came up with 22 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Canberra Capitals in the defeat. Bendigo Spirit maintains second place with 10-5 record behind leader Dandenong. Canberra Capitals lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
