Very important is a road loss of third ranked Okapi Aalstar (7-6) against ninth ranked Liege Basket (5-8) on Friday night. Visiting Okapi Aalstar was defeated by Liege Basket in Liege 81-71. Liege Basket outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 42-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Vincent Simpson (185-88, college: Hampton, agency: Promotex) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Liege Basket players scored in double figures. Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 23 points and American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Okapi Aalstar. Okapi Aalstar's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Liege Basket moved-up to eighth place. Okapi Aalstar at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Liege Basket will play against league's second-placed Antwerp Giants on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Okapi Aalstar will play against Spirou Charleroi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
