Regular Season Round 18: Tianjin GL - Sichuan BW 109-100

There was an upset in Tianjin where higher ranked Sichuan BW (9-9) was defeated by fourteenth ranked TianJin Steel (7-11) 109-100 on Friday. TianJin Steel made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Sichuan BW was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Jeremy Tyler (208-91, college: Louisville) chipped in 30 points and 12 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. TianJin Steel's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Rongqi Huang (190-99) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. TianJin Steel moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Qingdao E. Defending champion Sichuan BW dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. TianJin Steel will face higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#3) in Urumqi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
