Regular Season Round 15: GOCOR-Sozh - BSEU-GrandPrint 88-71

Bottom-ranked GOCOR-Sozh managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses. This time they won against seventh-ranked BSEU-GrandPrint in Gomel 88-71. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference proves that GOCOR-Sozh was well-prepared to that game. The game was mostly controlled by GOCOR-Sozh. BSEU-GrandPrint was better in fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GOCOR-Sozh made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 BSEU-GrandPrint turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. GOCOR-Sozh players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (186-93) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Aleksandr Kopacev (203-95) accounted for 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four GOCOR-Sozh players scored in double figures. GOCOR-Sozh's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Sergej Vabischevich (190-88) came up with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Maksim Misevich (188-99) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for BSEU-GrandPrint in the defeat. GOCOR-Sozh (2-11) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with BSEU-GrandPrint and Brest. BSEU-GrandPrint lost their seventh game in a row. GOCOR-Sozh will again play against BSEU-GrandPrint (#8) in Minsk in the next round. BSEU-GrandPrint will have a break next round.
