Regular Season Round 12: Valladolid - Segle XXI 74-60

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Segle XXI (7-5) against thirteenth ranked Ponce Valladolid (3-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Segle XXI was defeated by Ponce Valladolid in Valladolid 74-60. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Segle XXI. The game was mostly controlled by Ponce Valladolid. Segle XXI was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Alyesha Lovett (183-93, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and center Alejandra De La Fuente (193-88) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Silvia Serrat (183-99) with 6 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Aina Ayuso (181-99) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponce Valladolid moved-up to eleventh place in Group A, which they share with ADBA and Azkoitia. Segle XXI at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with GDKO Bizkaia. Ponce Valladolid will play against Azkoitia (#12) in Azpeitia in the next round. Segle XXI will play at home against Real Celta Vigo (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
