Regular Season Round 13: Naron - Ponferrada CDP 90-85

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Ponferrada CDP (7-4) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Naron (7-4) 90-85 on Saturday. Ponferrada CDP was trailing by 13 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 32-21 charge of Naron, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Ponferrada CDP turnovers and had a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ponferrada CDP was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Tim Gill (203-93, college: Clarion) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Guard Samuel Barros (190-98) chipped in 28 points and 5 assists. Worth to mention Gill played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) produced 32 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) added 13 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ponferrada CDP's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Naron moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with defeated Ponferrada CDP. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
