Regular Season Round 11: AE Larissas - Iraklis 71-74

The most exciting game of round 11 in the A2 took place in Larissas. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked AE Larissas (6-5) to second ranked Iraklis (10-1) 74-71 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AE Larissas. AE Larissas cut a 14-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. It was a great evening for guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Vasilis Angelakopoulos (203-79) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Icelandic center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Kostas Saribalidis (182-87) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Iraklis have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-1 record behind leader Panionios. Newly promoted AE Larissas dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Iraklis are looking forward to face Doxa Pefkon (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AE Larissas will play against Kavala and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
