Regular Season Round 24: Tokyo Excel. - Fukushima 70-77

Rather expected game when 4th ranked Tokyo Excel. (7-16) lost at home to second ranked Fukushima (16-7) 77-70 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-70. It was a good game for American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Fukushima's coach Tomohiro Moriyama used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds and guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tokyo Excel.Fukushima have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-7 record behind leader Kumamoto V., which they share with Nishinomiya S. Tokyo Excel. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 16 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round. Tokyo Excel. will play again at home against the league's second-placed Fukushima (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
