Regular Season Round 13: Tenerife Naut. - Rivas 101-68

No shocking result in a game in Santa Cruz where sixth ranked Tenerife Naut. (8-3) smashed 16th ranked Rivas (1-12) 101-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tenerife Naut.. Rivas was better in second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tenerife Naut. shot 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Rivas only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Rivas 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Rivas was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Francisco Pomares (192-94) fired 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Point guard Ayoze Alonso (187-91) chipped in 19 points. Four Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. Power forward Javier Mulas (198-85) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alberto Sanz (195-88) added 9 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tenerife Naut. moved-up to fourth place in Group B. Rivas lost eleventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. Tenerife Naut. will face Villarrobledo (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Rivas will play against CB Guadalajara (#12) and hope to win that game.
