Regular Season Round 12: Fanola SML - Stabia 50-45

Everything could happen in San Martino di L at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Fanola SML and 9th ranked Castellammare had identical 4-6 record. This time Fanola SML used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Stabia 50-45 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Castellammare won third quarter 14-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fanola SML dominated on the defensive end, holding Castellammare to just 7 points in second quarter. Fanola SML forced 20 Castellammare turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Jasmine Keys (190-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Elena Fietta (172-95) who added 7 points during the contest. Fanola SML's coach Michele Tomei used entire bench in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Maria Ortolani (178-97) with 8 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (169-90) scored 13 points and 5 steals. Newly promoted Fanola SML maintains eighth position with 5-6 record. Loser Castellammare keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Fanola SML will face higher ranked Ferrara (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Castellammare will play against Udine Delser (#6) and hope to win that game.
