Regular Season Round 13: Siena Virtus - San Miniato 83-73

There was an upset when higher ranked San Miniato (7-6) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Siena Virtus (6-7) 83-73 on Saturday. Siena Virtus shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. San Miniato was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Ferdinando Nasello (194-95) stepped up and scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Francesco Bonelli (186-88) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Siena Virtus players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Francesco Stefanelli (190-95) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and power forward Roberto Bertolini (198-86) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Siena Virtus moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 6 other teams. San Miniato lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Siena Virtus will face Domodossola (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
