Very predictable result when second ranked Kanazawa Sam. (15-5) rolled over on the road 8th ranked Tokyo Big Blue (1-9) 121-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kanazawa Sam. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 26 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 59-16 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kanazawa Sam. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. Kengo Funabashi (-93) replied with 14 points and 5 steals and point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo Big Blue. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kanazawa Sam. have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-5 record having four points less than leader Fukuoka Rizing. Tokyo Big Blue lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will face league's leader Fukuoka Rizing on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tokyo Big Blue will play against Toyoda Gosei (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
