The game between sixth ranked Garzas (10-10) and 8th ranked Abejas (6-13) in Plata Hidalgo on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Garzas beat guests from Guanajuato 95-78. Garzas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 28 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Garzas looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Abejas' players. It was a very good performance for the former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Garzas players scored in double figures. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Rayes Gallegos (188-90, college: Nebraska) added 26 points in the effort for Abejas. Garzas moved-up to fifth place. Abejas lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Garzas will face higher ranked Panteras (#4) in Aguascalientes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Abejas will play at home against Ciudad (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
