Regular Season Round 24: Chiba Jets - Toyama Grouses 91-87

Rather predictable result when third ranked Chiba Jets (17-7) defeated at home 6th ranked Toyama Grouses (3-21) 91-87 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Toyama Grouses won second period 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Chiba Jets won last quarter 25-22. Chiba Jets outrebounded Toyama Grouses 44-31 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who added 17 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Masashi Joho (183-82) with 29 points and 5 assists and American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chiba Jets have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-7 record having four points less than leader SeaHorses. Loser Toyama Grouses keep the sixth place with 21 games lost. Chiba Jets will face again Toyama Grouses (#6) at home in the next round.
