Regular Season Round 13: Gran Canaria - Avenida 52-70

Leader Perfumerias Avenida delivered the twelfth victory. This time they beat 14th ranked Gran Canaria (2-11) 70-52 in Las Palmas. It looked good early as Gran Canaria took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Perfumerias Avenida had a 14-9 second period charge getting the lead and Gran Canaria was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 52-70. Perfumerias Avenida forced 26 Gran Canaria turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian center Erika De Souza (197-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds. American-FYR Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) contributed with 13 points, 8 assists and 5 steals (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri, agency: Gamble Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Mali center Mariam Coulibaly (183-97) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gran Canaria. Perfumerias Avenida (12-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Gran Canaria at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Cadi La Seu (#8) in Seu D'urgell in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gran Canaria will play on the road against Zamarat (#12) in Zamora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
