Regular Season Round 12: JAS FBG - Basket Gdynia 61-80

Everything could happen in Sosnowiec at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Basket Gdynia and 8th ranked JAS FBG had identical 4-7 record. But JAS FBG was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Gdynia 80-61 on Saturday night. Basket Gdynia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to JAS FBG's 26. They outrebounded JAS FBG 56-25 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Basket Gdynia looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Carolyn Swords (198-89, college: Boston Coll., agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Montenegrin guard Jelena Skerovic (176-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists. Basket Gdynia's coach Katarzyna Dydek used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Amanda Frost (174-91, college: N.Arizona) who recorded 18 points and her fellow American import center Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) added 8 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Basket Gdynia (5-7) moved-up to eighth place. JAS FBG lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Basket Gdynia will face league's second-placed AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski in Gorzow Wlkp. in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. JAS FBG will play on the road against TS Ostrovia (#11) in Ostrow Wlkp. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
