Regular Season Round 11: Reims - Montbrison 74-65

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Reims (7-4) beat at home 9th ranked Montbrison (4-7) 74-65. It looked good early as Montbrison took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Reims had a 26-15 second period charge getting the lead and Montbrison was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-74. Reims dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Montbrison's 28. They outrebounded Montbrison 43-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Reims brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Montenegrin center Natasa Popovic (192-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks. Guard Fleur Devillers (181-95) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Camille Cabaton answered with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Cameroonian Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Montbrison. Four Montbrison players scored in double figures. Reims moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Arras. Montbrison at the other side keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Aulnoye. Reims will play against league's leader Avenir in Chartres in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Montbrison will play at home against Dunkerque (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
