There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Oviedo (2-10) won against 11th ranked ADBA (3-9) in Aviles 73-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-65. Oviedo dominated on the defensive end, holding ADBA to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for American forward Joy Brown (180-93, college: Iona) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds. Canadian guard Mariah Nunes (178-93, college: Ryerson) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Croatian center Jovana Mandic (193-92, college: Nicholls St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and guard Alicia Alonso (169-94) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for ADBA. Four ADBA players scored in double figures. Oviedo maintains fourteenth position in Group A with 2-10 record. ADBA lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. Oviedo will face higher ranked Arxil Pontevedra (#7) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
