Bottom-ranked Amazone (0-14) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 14th consecutive match to second ranked Loon Lions (9-4) 83-38 on Saturday evening. Loon Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Amazone's 18. Loon Lions forced 28 Amazone turnovers and had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Tanya Broering (178-84) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals. The former international point guard Tessel van Dongen (175-91) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Loon Lions players scored in double figures. Renee Hoveling (186-94) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Austrian forward Camilla Neumann (181-94) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Loon Lions have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 9-4 record having five points less than leader Lekdetec.nl, which they share with Binnenland. Loser Amazone still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Loon Lions will meet at home Grasshoppers (#4) in the next round. Amazone will play against Rotterdam (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
