Regular Season Round 11: Sydney - Dandenong 82-67

Top ranked Dandenong Rangers (11-4) recorded its fourth loss on the court of fifth ranked Sydney Uni Flames on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Sydney Uni Flames 82-67. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Dandenong Rangers. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. They outrebounded Dandenong Rangers 48-27 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sydney Uni Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sydney Uni Flames made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. American forward Asia Taylor (185-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. Sydney Uni Flames' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) produced 7 points and 12 rebounds and guard Aimee Clydesdale (177-93) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Sydney Uni Flames (8-5) moved-up to fourth place. Dandenong Rangers at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Sydney Uni Flames are looking forward to face higher ranked Perth Lynx (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dandenong Rangers will have a break next round.
