Regular Season Round 25: Shiga L-Stars - Toshiba BT 70-101

Leader Toshiba Thunders delivered the twenty second victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (6-19) 101-70. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Shiga L-Stars was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 40-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toshiba Thunders players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Shiga L-Stars' players. 25 personal fouls committed by Shiga L-Stars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) accounted for 19 points and 10 rebounds. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American center David Weaver (207-87, college: Wake Forest) added 21 points respectively for Shiga L-Stars in the defeat. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toshiba Thunders (22-3) have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. Shiga L-Stars at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 19 games lost. Toshiba Thunders' next round opponent will be league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shiga L-Stars will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
