The game between second ranked CB Canarias (9-4) and fourth ranked Valencia Basket (9-3) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. CB Canarias was defeated by Valencia Basket in Valencia 74-58. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. CB Canarias managed to win third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded CB Canarias 40-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. French point guard Antoine Diot (193-89) fired 14 points for the winners. Power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) produced 13 points and American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) added 5 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia Basket have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with FC Barcelona. CB Canarias at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Valencia Basket is looking forward to face league's second-placed FC Barcelona on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CB Canarias will have a break next round.
