Regular Season Round 25: Nagoya DD - Hitachi SR 86-73

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Nagoya. Second ranked Diamond Dolphins faced 3rd placed Hitachi Sunrockers. Host Diamond Dolphins (15-10) defeated guests from Tokyo (12-13) 86-73. The game was mostly controlled by Diamond Dolphins. Hitachi Sunrockers managed to win fourth quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Diamond Dolphins made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) chipped in 22 points. Four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) responded with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diamond Dolphins have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-10 record having seven points less than leader SeaHorses, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Hitachi Sunrockers lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 13 games lost. They share it with Sanen and Kyoto Hannar.. Diamond Dolphins will meet Sendai 89ers (#4) on the road in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Shiga L-Stars and hope to secure a win.
