Regular Season Round 25: Instituto - Argentino 83-70

Date: December 18, 2016
There was a small surprise in Cordoba where fifth ranked Instituto (13-11) beat 5th ranked Argentino (11-11) 83-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Instituto. Argentino was better in third quarter 27-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Argentino's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Center Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC, agency: DTMones) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) chipped in 21 points. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. Power forward Chaz Crawford (207-84, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Novar Gadson (201-89, college: Rider, agency: DTMones) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Instituto have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 13-11 record, which they share with Olimpico LB. Loser Argentino dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Instituto will have a break next round. Argentino will play at home against Atenas (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
