There was no surprise when 17th ranked La ICL Manresa (1-11) was crushed at home by eighth ranked Gran Canaria (7-6) 102-70 on Sunday. The game without a history. Gran Canaria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to La ICL Manresa's 28 and made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Gran Canaria forced 19 La ICL Manresa turnovers and outrebounded them 37-17 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Slovakian swingman Kyle Kuric (193-89, college: Louisville) fired 21 points for the winners. FYR Macedonian-American point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. American swingman Scott Suggs (197-89, college: Washington) produced 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Italian-American forward Joe Trapani (203-88, college: Boston Coll.) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gran Canaria maintains eighth place with 7-6 record. La ICL Manresa lost their tenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Gran Canaria will face higher ranked Baskonia (#6) in Vitoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La ICL Manresa will play at home against Movil Estudiantes (#13) and hope to win that game.
