Regular Season Round 13: Isernia - Taranto 57-62

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Taranto (5-8) defeated on the road 10th ranked Isernia (5-8) 62-57 on Sunday. Strangely Isernia outrebounded Taranto 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Isernia was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Alessandro Procacci (184-94) stepped up and scored 22 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and the former international center Roberto Chiacig (210-74, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Marco Salari (184-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists and naturalized Albanian power forward Klaudio Patani (197-96) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Isernia's coach Nino Sanfilippo tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Taranto moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Isernia. Taranto will face higher ranked Porto S.Elpidio (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
