Regular Season Round 12: Carugate - Orvieto 57-78

Very expected game in Corugate where 11th ranked Carugate (3-9) was crushed by fifth ranked Orvieto (8-3) 78-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Orvieto. Carugate was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Orvieto dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Carugate's 22. Orvieto forced 27 Carugate turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Valentina Bonasia (164-94) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Lithuanian power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Orvieto players scored in double figures. Coach Massimo Romano's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Emily Correal (190-90, college: William & Mary, agency: Interperformances) with 21 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Laura Rossi (166-97) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Orvieto maintains fifth position with 8-3 record. Carugate at the other side keeps the eleventh place with nine games lost. Orvieto will face Bolzano (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Carugate will play against Costa Masnaga and hope to win that game.
