Regular Season Round 12: Vicenza - Viterbo 72-38

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Viterbo (3-8) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Vicenza (10-1) 72-38 on Sunday. The game without a history. Vicenza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 4 points in second quarter. Vicenza dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Viterbo's 26. Vicenza forced 25 Viterbo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Viterbo's players. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Giuditta Nicolodi (185-95) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Slovenian forward Tina Jakovina (183-92) who added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian power forward Katrin Stoichkova (182-99) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and center Adriana Cutrupi (188-96) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vicenza have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-1 record behind leader Bologna. Viterbo lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with eight games lost. Vicenza will face league's leader Bologna on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Viterbo will play against Civitanova (#3) and hope to win that game.
