Regular Season Round 24: Mitsubishi K. - Fujitsu RW 75-74

The most exciting game of round 24 in the WJBL took place in Nagoya. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Fujitsu RW (17-5) to sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (14-8) 75-74 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 28-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Mitsubishi K. forced 21 Fujitsu RW turnovers and outrebounded them 45-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mitsubishi K. made 7 blocks. It was a good game for the former international forward Chika Sakuragi (179-91) who saved her team from a defeat with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. International center Asako Oh (189-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Megumi Shinohara (184-91) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Fujitsu RW. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mitsubishi K. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chanson V-M. Fujitsu RW at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost.
