Regular Season Round 19: Comunicaciones - Mitre Tuc. 89-67

Date: December 19, 2016
Rather predictable result in Mercedes where second ranked Comunicaciones (13-4) smashed 6th ranked Mitre Tuc. (5-12) 89-67 on Monday. Comunicaciones looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Mitre Tuc.'s players. It was a great evening for Cameroonian power forward Gaston Essengue (203-83, college: UNLV) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Matias Aristu (193-95) helped adding 17 points. At the losing side American forward Tirrell Brown (198-93, college: Ouachita Baptist) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Emilio Parks (198-92, college: Johnson C. Smith) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Comunicaciones. They maintain second place with 13-4 record having just one victory less than leader Union SF. Newly promoted Mitre Tuc. keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Comunicaciones will face BHY Tiro Federal (#4) in Morteros in the next round. Mitre Tuc. will play on the road against Villa San Martin in Resistencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
