Regular Season Round 5: Mayrouba - Homenetmen 68-114

Undefeated leader Homenetmen delivered the fifth consecutive victory on Monday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Mayrouba (2-3) 114-68. The game without a history. Homenetmen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mayrouba to just 7 points in second quarter. Homenetmen shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Mayrouba's players. The former international swingman Fadi Khatib (198-79) stepped up and scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Homenetmen players scored in double figures. American center Robert Upshaw (213-94, college: Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward John Bohannon (210-91, college: UTEP) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Homenetmen (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Loser Mayrouba keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Sagesse and Moutahed. Homenetmen will meet at home league's second-placed Byblos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mayrouba will play against Champville (#9) in Dik El Mehdi and hope to secure a win.
