Regular Season Round 1: Santo Andre - Sampaio 66-59

There was no surprise when Sampaio (0-2) was defeated on the road by Santo Andre (2-0) 66-59. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sampaio won third quarter 19-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santo Andre players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The former international center Silvia Valente (186-82) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and forward Vanessa Goncalves (185-94) accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. The former international power forward Karina Jacob (187-85) came up with 7 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Palmira Marcal (176-84) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for Sampaio in the defeat. Santo Andre's next round opponent will be Pres.Valceslau (#5) on the road. Sampaio will play against UNINASSAU and hope to win that game.
