Regular Season Round 12: Kutaisi - Batumi 80-77

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Superleague took place in Kutaisi. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Batumi (6-6) to second ranked Kutaisi (9-1) 80-77 on Tuesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Batumi won fourth quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kutaisi made 10 blocks. It was a good game for international point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international Anatoliy Boisa (192-83, college: Lincoln Memorial) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American center Chris Pelcher (208-91, college: New Hampshire) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and international Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) added 19 points in the effort for Batumi. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Batumi's coach Davit Ustiashvili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kutaisi have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 9-1 record having just three points less than leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Batumi at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Kutaisi are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Mgzavrebi (#8) in Tbilisi in the next round where they are favorite. Batumi will play at home against Sokhumi (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
