Regular Season Round 7: Maccabi Raanana - Maccabi R.Gan 49-70

D1 top team - Maccabi Ramat Gan (6-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Maccabi Raanana (1-5) 70-49. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ramat Gan. Maccabi Raanana was better in third quarter 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ramat Gan made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a quality performance for guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Alyssa Baron (178-92, college: Pennsylvania) accounted for 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Karisma Penn (188-91, college: Illinois) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Jada Payne (188-93, college: E.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Maccabi Raanana in the defeat. Maccabi Raanana's coach Liron Sherf gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Maccabi Ramat Gan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Maccabi Raanana lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with five games lost. Maccabi Ramat Gan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Maccabi Raanana will play on the road against Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
