Regular Season Round 7: Maccabi Ashdod - Hapoel Z/MM 84-62

Very expected game when 6th ranked Hapoel Z/MM (2-4) was crushed on the road by second ranked Maccabi Ashdod (5-1) 84-62. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Z/MM's 32. Maccabi Ashdod forced 20 Hapoel Z/MM turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Hapoel Z/MM's players. It was an exceptional evening for American center Tiffany Jackson (191-85, college: Texas) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international Katia Levitsky (190-85, college: Villanova) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American center Britany Miller (192-87, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Alex Harden (180-93, college: Wichita St.) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for Hapoel Z/MM in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 5-1 record behind leader Maccabi R.Gan. Newly promoted Hapoel Z/MM dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Ramat Hasharon (#4) on the road in the next round. Hapoel Z/MM will play against Elitzur Holon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
