Regular Season Round 26: Toshiba BT - Toyota Alvark 93-81

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Toyota Alvark (19-5) in Kanagawa on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Toshiba Thunders (23-3) 93-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. Toyota Alvark trailed 45-44 at halftime, rallying from a 29-14 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Toshiba Thunders made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Toshiba Thunders had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The other American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) replied with 12 points and 5 assists and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-3 record which they share with defeated Toyota Alvark. Toyota Alvark at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Toshiba Thunders are again looking forward to face league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round.
