Regular Season Round 12: St Quentin - Vichy Clermont 70-77

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Saint-Quentin (6-6) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked JA Vichy (6-6) 77-70 on Friday. Saint-Quentin trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-77 at the end of the game. JA Vichy dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Saint-Quentin's 26. Worth to mention a great performance of David Denave (193-85) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and American-Ivorian swingman Derrick Byars (201-84, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Inception Sports) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five JA Vichy players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Kenyan forward Robert Nyakundi (203-89, college: SMU) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Malela Mutuale (188-91) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JA Vichy moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Saint-Quentin. JA Vichy will face SO Maritime Boulogne (#17) in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
